Melbourne: My dream destination

For the fourth straight year in Melbourne has become the most liveable city of the world. What makes Melbourne so special? Why people are getting obsessed and spellbound with Melbourne?
Some places get tremendous attention and everybody loves to spend some quality time there. On the other hand, there are places people just want to get away from it. To love a place one must get connected with it and this is where Melbourne fits perfectly. Everybody can just feel getting connected with Melbourne and that is what makes Melbourne so special.

For travel destination, I usually prefer a quiet countryside, as I live in one of the World’s most densely populated cities, Kolkata. But, if I have to choose a city, it definitely will be in Melbourne. Melbourne is a big concentrated city which shows what a city should be. No doubt, it will be my dream destination. Melbourne is the place I will love to be.

The city is alive

Every aspect of Melbourne is enchanting. Be it the gathering of people, noise and movement, fast food stalls everything is so captivating and lively. Here I can relate the city with my hometown Kolkata which has the similar liveliness, though in a different manner.

The streets of Melbourne

The streets of Melbourne are full of color, lights and beautiful buildings with swarms of people moving across them. The constant noise, screeching cars, fashionable shops, everything is so inviting. I will just love to walk through the Federation Square, the laneways, the Southbank and will love to ride the tram. Melbourne has endless new faces in the streets representing different lives.

The Sunset at St Kilda

I will also love to have a quiet time in the botanical garden and will definitely enjoy the sunset at St Kilda. The evening stroll in the St Kilda beach in front of the red to orange water will be a real delight.

Melbourne: My dream destination

The Queen Victoria Market

Going through the Queen Victoria Market among the vegetable and fruit sellers will be a perfect time pass for me.

The Melbourne Skyline

I have seen so many times the Melbourne Skyline in pictures and will love to watch in reality.
Living close to a beach and a city is a dream and Melbourne just offers it with tons of other attractions. The list is just endless with ample things to do in Melbourne.

  • The Queen Victoria Market
  • The Sunset at St Kilda
  • Visit to the Yarra River
  • Exploring the lanes
  • Riding the free city trams
  • The botanical gardens
  • Enjoying the Southbank
  • The Melbourne Museum
  • The sky tower visit

Travelling in Australia is expensive, but Tourism Victoria in association with Indiblogger made it possible for us to get a chance to visit it for free.

  4. Great post! After reading your post & watching all the videos, I’d most like to visit the Dandenong Ranges for it’s scenic beauty, breathtaking view and cool breeze blowing through my hair. :P I’d give anything away for driving through the winding roads which are present throughout the ranges. I’d love to stay at one of the bed and breakfast cottages and go on frequent excursions in the forests with my camera which provides excellent views. And not to forget the famous ride in the Puffing Billy, a day reserved especially for that. To add to that, there are also several picnic spots for me and my friends to spend a fun-filled day and the ranges are a perfect spot for hiking and cycling.

Wish you and your blog a happy new year! :D

  5. Wonderful post and interesting videos that make me feel that
Melbourne invites the eternal romantic in me to hold hands with my beloved and go see the Twelve Apostles .Go on long drives on the great ocean road. In the middle of nowhere in a vineyard spread a table and enjoy a meal and a glass of wine with my dear one. Enjoy the sunsets holding hands and do lots of shopping at the Queen Victoria Market and see all the graffiti being created at the hosier lane.
Great Post and interesting videos watching them I am sure to visit Sovereign Hill for spending some time in the era gone by. The lure of gold and panning for some nuggets is a temptation that is too much to resist. After I have found the gold I am bound to celebrate it with some wine so I will visit the vineyards and enjoy some great wine from the Yarra region .Visit the Pannys Phillip Island Chocolate Factory and have my fill with this yummy delight.

  6. I would love to explore the streets of Melbourne - its culture, cafes, street art work and get the feel of city, before exploring the rest of it. Then I would love to explore the natural beauty around it. A drive on Great Ocean Road to be precise.
    Well written and good luck.

  7. Nice post. And pretty well explained. I absolutely loved the way you described the places in detail. Your post gives me a feeling that I've been

there in Australia for myself. Of all, I would like to go and experience the hot air balloon ride. Would be an awesome experience, that too one,

    memorable for an entire lifetime.

  8. Great post! After reading your post & watching all the videos, I would definitely want to visit all those amazing places when I get to visit Melbourne :) But of all, my top pick would be a visit to Yarra valley for a beautiful sunrise balloon flight. After seeing the video, I can't stop myself from dreaming a romantic magical flight above the scenic vineyards and watching the sunrise from up above! Throw in my favorite wine, I will doubly enjoy the ride sipping my glass and taking sensational selfies all the way :) Now I can't think of a better way of spending a vacation!!

Next of course, cruising through the great ocean road in a open-top car to enjoy the coastal scenery and the iconic 12 apostles for the nature's amazing work at play. Then a ride around the city in the vintage trams to enjoy its urban splendor and the legendary puffing billy to enjoy its natural splendor. Finally a day at the hot springs to unwind and totally rejuvenate myself :)

  10. Hi!
We know beauty never need words but without words it cannot be explained and when you get wordless after seeing it... your mouth still get open wide and WOW comes out. Dear! Your explanation about Melbourne is wonderful and picturesque description. I am a person who always attracted to nature first of any place so I would love to see the Melbourne Nature & Wildlife. The 12 Apostles rock formations is world famous rocks which changes its color in sunrise and sun set. And then I will see the Phillip Island Nature Park where I want to see the animals which I hardly see in India. I never saw Penguins, Koala and other animals.
Driving on a smooth road with natural beauty around you, it always gives you a feeling of heaven on Earth. I would love to drive on Great Ocean Road which is also famous in world to give you a scenic experience and the pleasure of that driving is amazing.

  12. This is a perfect example of a post with a lot of precision in it. precise and incisive... both at the same time.

So what will I opt for when I go to Melbourne?

It will be the Segway ride by the river Yarra, for sure.

    Why?
Well, the Segway will allow me to travel faster and further... and leave me less tired. But then, the important thing is that it will leave me with enough time to stand by the public art displays and click each of them for my blog posts.
Now, art isn't there only by the river Yarra... so I am going to take the streetcars or trams and travel up and down and visit the art galleries too.

Yes, I will love to go up the elevator and on the Skydeck to watch how the city interacts with its congregation of heritage and contemporary architecture.

So we see that Melbourne has different forms of art for every heart... and this is what i am going to explore.
