Allergy has become one of
the common chronic conditions all over the world. Apart from making you feel
down and despondent, allergic reactions may sometimes become highly critical.
You may feel miserable due to the recurrent allergy you are having and are saturated
with the conventional therapies and not receiving enough respite you desire
for. Here are some alternative remedies you might find suitable:
Probiotics
Probiotics are live bacteria
and yeasts that are good for your health. According to latest research
probiotics are quite efficient in increasing immunity and prevents or cures
allergy. Yogurt is one of the most easily available probiotics that plays an important
role in maintaining a well balanced immune system. There are certain probiotic
drinks that help fight allergic reactions. However, make sure to select brands
containing organisms like Bifidobacterium lactis or Lactobacillus rhamnosus.
Steam Inhalation
This is another promising
method to treat allergic reactions. Inhalation of steam comprising of essential
oils is quite an effective process that brings you some relief from sniffling,
sneezing, headaches or any other irksome allergic reactions. There are a number
of available essential oils that helps in treating the conditions. To name a
few are eucalyptus oil, Lavander oil, Peppermint oil, Lemon oil, Roman
chamomile oil, Basil oil, Tea tree oil. You can add some of them to your salad
dressings soups or drinks, etc. (Basil or peppermint oil) to treat inflammatory
responses, sinusitis, cough and cold. You can also simply put on some tea tree
oil on a cotton ball and apply externally to the affected areas in order to get
some relief from airborne pathogens causing allergic reactions. You can also
clear your blocked sinuses clear up your lungs and reduce allergic condition by
adding 1-2 drops of eucalyptus oil in boiling water and inhaling the steam.
Lavender and Roman chamomile are wonderful in treating eczema, rashes and other
allergic reactions on the skin.
Saline Nasal
Rinse
This is a universal remedy
for allergic reactions. What you are actually doing is using saline solution to
swilling out your sinuses hence rinsing off allergens. For this you can prepare
your own solution by mixing 0.9 gm of non-iodized salt to 100 mL of either
distilled water or boiled water followed by cooling. You may also add a pinch
of baking soda (optional). Add the mixture in a squeeze bottle and pour 1-2
drops in your. It is advisable to wheeze heavily so that your palate gets
lifted and blocks the back portion of the nose so that you can avoid getting
the sinking sensation.
Honey
Application of honey in the
prevention of allergy is based on the concept of immunotherapy. There are
evidences of using honey to get relief of allergies, but you must always go for
commercially available processed honey and not the local unprocessed ones.
Honey is effective against cough or any other throat irritations. It is similar
to kind small allergy shot.
Stinging Nettle

This herb has been used for
years to treat itching, sneezing or similar kinds of allergic reactions.
Stinging nettle is commercially available in the form of juices, tea, root
tincture, capsules and tablet. You can avail the medicinal oils by using tea
bags dipped in hot water for 10-15 minutes to obtain maximum extract oils prior
to consumption. This product is effective against allergic rhinitis.
