The variation in genes that protects some group of people from malaria (the people who are resistant to malaria) have been studied for long and has an extended history. Recently a set of new genes has been identified by the scientists.
Malaria takes place due to a parasite that is transmitted through mosquito bites and each year claims more than half a million lives and most of them are young children. But, surprisingly, many people never get ill with the disease even after getting infected with it as they are resistant to it.
